NIE Guadalajara: for a new job, a lease or a move from Madrid

A contract waiting in a warehouse in Cabanillas, a flat in Azuqueca, family to bring over: we work out which procedure is yours, fill in the papers with you and help you book a cita previa with the Brigada de Extranjería on Avenida del Ejército.

  • Brigada de Extranjería, Avenida del Ejército 12
  • EX-15, EX-17, EX-18, EX-19 and the Modelo 790-012
  • Answers by email, in plain English

Two doors

Two doors, one for each passport

Guadalajara sits at the eastern end of the Henares corridor, on the railway that links it to Madrid, and newcomers keep arriving: to work in the logistics parks around Cabanillas and Azuqueca, to rent a bigger flat than the capital allows, or to join relatives already settled in the city. Sooner or later, an employer, a landlord or a bank asks each of them for a NIE, the identity number that Spain issues to every foreigner it deals with.

The Policía Nacional assigns that number at a single appointment. The real work comes first: choosing the request that matches your nationality and what you plan to do here, paying the Modelo 790 código 012, finding a free cita previa in the province, and arriving with a complete set of papers. That preparation is what we do with you, one step after the other, in clear English.

Your passport: EU, EEA or Swiss

Freedom to live and work in Spain is already yours. If you stay more than three months, you register for the green certificate (form EX-18), which also carries your NIE.

Passport from outside the EU

Your right to live here comes from a visa or an authorisation. After you arrive, the fingerprints and the TIE card follow, or the family card if your partner is an EU citizen.

How we work

Four stones, laid in order

  1. Step 1. Your situation, in a few lines

Send us a short message: your nationality, why you are in Guadalajara and when your papers must be ready. We answer by email with the procedure that fits you and the list of documents it asks for.

  2. Step 2. Every form, checked line by line

We fill in the right request with you, whether the EX-15, the EX-18, the EX-17 or the EX-19, and the 790-012 fee form. Then we compare each paper with what the procedure asks for.

  3. Step 3. Looking for the appointment

We search the cita previa system for a day in the province of Guadalajara that suits your shifts, your children’s school hours or your flight, and we read the confirmation with you.

  4. Step 4. A short brief before you go

You get a note with the address, the hour, your papers in order and the questions you may hear at the desk. When the appointment is over, we look with you at what is still open, such as collecting a card or opening an account.

Oficina de Extranjería · Guadalajara

Extranjería Guadalajara: two offices, two doors

In Guadalajara, NIE numbers, EU residence certificates and TIE cards all go through one police unit in Avenida del Ejército 12, the Brigada Provincial de Extranjería y Fronteras; policia.es lists no other in the province. Permits to work, to join family or to stay on other grounds are the business of the government's Oficina de Extranjería at Avenida Francia 18, and the padrón is kept by the Ayuntamiento. We help people across the city and the corridor, from the old town and Los Valles to Azuqueca de Henares, Cabanillas del Campo, Marchamalo and Alovera.

Reaching Avenida del Ejército

A town hall news item from April 2026 says that urban bus line 5 (Los Manantiales – Los Valles) passes through Avenida del Ejército; it names no stop, so we do not give one. We found no official page on reaching the Oficina on Avenida Francia by public transport: plan from the address on your confirmation.

Why people write to us

Help that fits the way the offices work

  • We start from your papers

An EU passport, a work visa and a family link lead to different forms and different offices. We look at yours first, so you read only the steps that are really yours.

  • Short sentences, Spanish explained

Many of our readers speak English as a second language. We keep the words simple, and we explain each Spanish term the first time it appears.

  • Gaps found at home, not at the desk

Every paper is compared with the procedure before you leave home. A gap found at your kitchen table is easy to close; a gap found at the desk can mean a new booking.

  • Clear about our role

This is a private service, separate from every public office. We prepare the procedure with you; the police and the Oficina de Extranjería take the decisions.

This site is drawn from the façade of the Palacio del Infantado in Guadalajara, covered in carved diamond-point stones: here each guide is one stone, and together they make one wall.

Where Guadalajara will ask for your NIE

  • A work contract in a warehouse or a factory
  • A lease for a flat in the city or the corridor
  • A bank account to receive your salary
  • Registering as an EU resident
  • Fingerprints for a first TIE
  • The deed of a home, signed before a notary
  • Enrolling in a school or a university course
  • Joining a husband, wife or parent who lives here
